Pendleton, Ore., 2010 Summer Square Dance Festival Just One Week Away

This year’s summer festival offers something new: a live bluegrass band, Fiddlegrass. If you’ve enjoyed dancing to the Ghost Riders at national festivals, Fiddlegrass alone will make the summer festival worth attending. And the Crew will be calling, along with national caller Marshall Flippo.

An ice cream social Thursday night at the free–yes free!–trails end dance, the Sunday heavenly hoe down, two square dance halls, a round dance hall and the fabulous afterparty are just a few of the additional reasons why the summer festival July 15-18 is going to be fun and worth attending. In addition, Pendleton itself offers plenty to see including the Pendleton Woolen Mills. (Free factory tours are 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. on weekdays. Address: 1307 S.E. Ct. Pl., Pendleton.)

“Back in the saddle again” is the festival’s theme, and viewing the advertising poster will make you want to pull out your boots and 10-gallon hat. Click below to see the very cool-looking western-themed festival poster. Summer Festival 2010 Handbill Final
