Tri-Council Dance a Success

At 11 squares, I stopped counting. I couldn’t see the right half of the Clark County Square Dance Center’s hall well enough to count the squares there. At least as many as on the left side, I figured. Square dancers packed the hall–some in costume. Black clothing predominated.

The Tri-Council dance on Oct. 30, 2010, had a big attendance–more than 300, I’m told. When the announcement of raffle basket winners came, the hall even lacked seating for all the dancers.

The Crew called with Jim Hattrick cuing. An open break featured finger food…egg-salad sandwiches, veggies, and many tempting cakes and cookies. The chocolate cupcakes topped with frosting and candy corn tempted me, but I resisted.

The 2011 summer festival committee displayed the raffle quilt, sold T-shirts and sported the official clothing. Tickets were available for both Mid-Winter and 2011 summer festival.

I saw many familiar faces but also many faces I didn’t recognize. And that’s a good thing. The square dance community is larger than may seem apparent at the typical club dance.
