Umpqua Area Council Square Dance Club Creates Unique Fundraiser

An Umpqua-area square dance club is making wreaths to sell as a fundraiser this Christmas season. A representative at the state meeting in Roseburg, Ore., on Nov. 14, 2010, said the club will be crafting more than 100 wreaths this year.

Also creatively using the Christmas season for a fundraiser, the Oaky Doaks helped with sales at a Christmas tree lot. A reputable source told me this activity will net the club between $400 and $500.

Fundraisers are necessary for most clubs to cover their expenses: caller, cuer, rent, etc. Dinners seem to head the list of fundraisers; congratulations to these clubs for trying something different.
