Specialty Coffee Drinks for Sale at 2011 Summer Festival

Dancers can bask in the air-conditioned comfort of Reynolds High School until the after parties close…without ever having to leave the building for food or drinks. That’s because the school’s food court will be open. In addition, Coffee’s On, a popular Gresham-area coffee shop, will sell iced and hot coffee drinks. Just another reason to sign up for the 2011 summer festival!

Tickets to Go on Sale for Summer Festival USO Show

The trio, 2 Sisters & a Mr., will perform on July 9, at the 2011 summer festival in Troutdale, Ore.

A USO show with the trio, Two Sisters and a Mr., is one of the entertainment features for the 2011 summer festival. The WWII era influences the trio’s attire (hats and gloves), and their repertoire ranges through the ’50s.

They sing songs such as “Tuxedo Junction,” “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” “Don’t Sit under the Apple Tree” and “Sincerely.”

“We love to sing,”  Terry Scott, the group’s manager, said. “Folks of all ages love this music, and they’re not getting it anywhere else.”

The 2 Sisters performed their debut at a major fundraising USO show for “The Wings of Freedom Showcase,” a project dedicated to restoring “The Bomber,” a WWII B-17G.

The group has performed for churches, at concerts in the parks, for fairs, at festivals and more. Summer festival chairman Tony Haskins discovered the trio at the Oregon State Fair last summer as he supervised the square dancing exhibition. He was so impressed that he hired the trio on the spot for the 2011 summer festival.

The group loves to sing!

Tickets for the summer festival USO show are an additional $5 beyond the price of the festival, but are a bargain at that.

The concert will take place at the Reynolds High School auditorium on Saturday, July 9, at 6 p.m. The concert will last until 7:30 p.m.

Tickets will go on sale after Feb. 14. Only 500 tickets are available. Seating is open festival-style, so come early for the best spots. The event is open to the public. Send an e-mail to Checkerboardsquares@gmail.com for more information.
